MYCATISLOST
🐾

Every lost cat deserves
a neighborhood looking.

MyCatIsLost is a free, real-time map that helps communities find missing cats β€” together.

The Problem

Roughly 10 million pets go missing in the U.S. every year. When a cat disappears, the first 24 hours are critical β€” but most owners spend those hours panicking, printing paper flyers, and scrolling through fragmented Facebook groups and Craigslist posts.

There's no central place. No real-time coordination. No way for your neighbor walking their dog at 6 AM to quickly tell you β€œI just saw an orange tabby under the porch at 4th and Oak.”

Why I Built This

I'm Jon β€” a cat dad in Santa Clarita, California. I've seen firsthand how chaotic and heartbreaking it is when a cat goes missing. The panic, the helplessness, the hours spent walking the neighborhood calling a name into the dark.

I wanted to build something that makes the worst day of a pet owner's life a little less scary. Something that turns your neighbors into a search party with a single tap.

MyCatIsLost is that something. It's a side project built with love, late-night coding sessions, and a lot of tuna-scented motivation from my own cats.

Where We're Going

Right now MyCatIsLost is a hobby project β€” one person trying to make a difference. But the goal is bigger.

We want to grow this into a proper nonprofit organization dedicated to reuniting pets with their families. We want to partner with local shelters, vet offices, and animal rescue groups. We want to bring this to every neighborhood in the country.

But first, we need to prove it works β€” one reunited cat at a time.

If MyCatIsLost helped you, the best way to support us is to tell your neighbors about it. Share a link. Post in your local Nextdoor group. The more people who know about it, the more cats come home.
